We wrote notes to Miss Duong if we wanted to have a go on the bikes. This was our writing challenge and we enjoyed challenging ourselves. We learnt how to be safe when using bikes on the road. Well done, Miss Duong.
We applied our understanding, knowledge and skills to show Miss Duong what she had taught us. I was very impressed with your work children and I’m sure you’ll build upon these skills in Year 1. Fantastic!

We looked and learnt about lots of different things on our journey in love. We learnt about similarities and differences, how to be a good friend, how God is our friend and said some prayers. We had a great morning taking part in lots of activities. Well done Class Reception, Miss Duong.
Wow, haven’t they grown?! The children enjoyed seeing two of our eight grown-up chicks today. Just as last year, one even escaped and ran off and had to be chased by Mrs Knight!
We enjoyed adding to our bug hotel to attract the minibeasts and then explored pond life. We enjoyed learning all about our environment.
We begin this month by welcoming our Foundation Class for next year and modelling how to play and challenge their minds. We also begin working together and working more in depth and at length ready for our transition into Year 1 next year. We have been working very hard. Keep it up, well done, Miss Duong.
We learnt about directions through using the Beebots. We learn about programming them and how to cancel our instructions if we’d made a mistake and used the iPad app too. We had a great morning. Fantastic work Class Reception, Miss Duong.
We enjoyed our last Retreat with Joe and Brodie this year. We learnt about our journey with God and the items we would need. We had a great afternoon. Thank you Joe and Brodie.

May starts with the news that the Duke and Duchess had given birth to a baby boy so some of the children decided to write to them and ends with a visit from the ambulance. Thank you to Mrs Kilner for organising this and to Ellen and Darren for spending their day off wit( us. Thanks again.

We learnt lots about the Pentecost story and the Holy Spirit. We spread the news by making Pentecost banners using the colours of flames and then spread the good news and celebrated Jesus going back to His Father in heaven and keeping His promise to send His special friend.
Thank you to Sam for organising a visit from Ellen and Darren. The children learnt so much and really enjoyed this visit. Thank you for coming to see us on your day off. A brilliant morning.
April starts with growing, new life and Easter. During April, we had our 2 week Easter break. We learnt lots about loving others like Jesus loves us, and we showed this love towards our class chicks. Thank you to Mrs Wood and her family for taking the chicks to their new home, to live on her farm. We hope to see you all soon, Class Reception
We learnt all about Saint George’s Day today. The day started with a whole school assembly, then we took part in lots of activities in class; painting flags, making bunting, role-play, writing about Saint George, preparing cucumber sandwiches, and jam and cream scones for our picnic in the afternoon. It was a great day!
We learnt about growing to love Jesus more during Lent and why. We talked about Jesus dying on Good Friday and why, and coming back to life on Easter Sunday. We thought about what this meant. Our Station of the Cross was Jesus coming back to life. Father Paul took this to church so that it could be displayed on Easter Sunday.
We role-played parts of the Easter Story, showing what happened to Jesus after the 40 days and 40 nights in the desert.
Thank you for giving us the experience to work as a team under the cargo nets.
We had a great time making pizzas at Pizza Express. We kneaded the dough, made it into a circular base, put passage and cheese on it and then played some games. We would like to thank our parent helpers and Joe and Danny at Pizza Express for a great morning. We hope you enjoy eating your pizzas for dinner tonight.
During our Come and See lessons, we have been learning to love Jesus more during Lent and how to act and behave more like Jesus; to love one another how we want to be loved, respect others, share and care with one another and love your enemies. We have also planted seeds and will help them to grow by loving them, along with our baby chicks. We know that a Jesus died for us because He loves us.
March started off with our Saint David’s Day Mass and ended with the arrival of ten chicks eggs.

Some of the children built a temple to talk about and role-play the story of Maryland Joseph taking baby Jesus to the temple. They did a great job and decided what resources they wanted to use in The Forest Kingdom. Well done, Miss Duong.
The children have been learning about Saint David and why we mark this day. They presented a Mass all about him to the rest of school on Friday 1st March. Class Reception did a great job and learnt lots, well done. Miss Duong
We have taken part in lots of activities this month, starting with our People Who Help Us topic; visits to the library, Post Office, the fire station. We celebrated Chinese New Year, the year of the pig, and lots more. We have now completed more than half a year in The Foundation Stage.

We took our diva pots home at the end of November. We made them on Diwali day, the first week back after the half-term, and had to varnish them before we could take them home.
We had a very busy first week back after half-term learning about Bonfire Night, Diwali and Remembrance Day, remembering those who served and died for us during WW1. During week 2, our learning focus was Anti-Bullying Week and as a school, we made sock puppets. The month ended with Youth day; encountering Christ through fun and laughter.
We’ve had a busy month and October starts off with performing. I hope you enjoy seeing what we have been learning.
We had a great afternoon with Joe Nd Brodie learning all about our Come and See topic Welcome. Thank you.
We learnt the story of The Little Red Hen and then used the same skills to bake bread. We also learnt why we need yeast and learnt lots.
We had a great time learning the different versions of this story over the past few weeks. We then decided to make our own version of this story and chose the animals we wanted to include, what they would do and say and why. We only needed a little help from Mrs Knight. Well done Class Reception!
We looked and learnt about the props in the Pariliment Box. Some of us wanted to try the props on too.
We really enjoyed baking for the first time at school. We look forward to baking again.

We had fun this morning practising for Sports Day.
We had two days great days of science last Thursday and Friday. We learnt so much about solids and liquids and also a little about gases too! We really enjoyed ourselves.

The children had great gross motor skills whilst using the Trim Trail. Even I had a go!
What a fantastic experience and effort, teamwork and a variety of skills used by the children during their KitCamp session. Since the children have learnt how to build with it, they have continued to use it independently, working harmoniously as a team member. We’ve heard fantastic language, great use of their imagination, some brilliant problem solving skills involving their 2D and 3D knowledge of shape. The only intervention needed by the adult, is to risk assess the children’s creations. Enjoy the video!

We had a great time learning all about the Chinese zodiac and why we celebrate Chinese New Year. We celebrated the year of the dog today.
The children did a great job on Thursday afternoon during our Come and See circle time. They thought of their own ideas of how we can all gather and as we heard each idea, we acted out each one. There was no input or help from Mrs Knight or myself so we are both super proud of the children. Well done, you’re amazing! Miss Duong.
We learnt some new skills today; using a knife, cutting cheese, using a knife/spoon to spread tomato purée onto our bread and sharing cooking utensils with our friends.
The children had a great mOpening learning all about how to keep safe in a fire and how firefighters help us.

Week beginning 20th November. We explored 3shapes; using language to describe them, trying to remember what they are called and using them in our play. We learnt lots and had lots of fun!
We started our Judaism topic this week and looked at lots of artefacts.
This week we learnt to count out objects and then take away one and count how many were left over.
We took our diva pots home yesterday. We made them on Diwali day before the half-term and had to varnish them before we could take them home.
Today we learnt about treating others how we would like to be treated and we also talked about all being different and equal. We used three primary colours to make handprints to agree with this statement.
